We specialize in working with people who are difficult to understand, including those who speak too quickly or too softly, and non-native English speakers who have not yet learned to pronounce all of the sounds in American English. Most adults from other countries have never had someone assess their speech and tell them which English sounds they are mispronouncing. Nor has someone told them how to pronounce those sounds. In class after class, we are thanked for providing a service our clients have never had.
Accents are not the problem and accent reduction is not the goal. Many people who retain their accents are wildly successful. Three examples are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Arianna Huffington, and Penelope Cruz. Some of the tools we use to increase understanding of international speakers include: teaching tongue placement, shaping of lips, using the music of language the way we use it in this country, and slowing down.

We are trained professionals who will:
- Identify all speech problems through individual assessment
- Design a personalized plan of action
- Teach the participant(s) to:
- Hear and learn to pronounce American speech sounds, such as r (as in car) or th (as in think) or ih (as in it)
- Use pitch appropriately
- Speak slowly enough to be understood easily
- Use computer assisted learning, video feedback and written training materials
- Establish achievable goals with measurable results
